Reflexion about the Heritage Trail

During the Heritage Trail to Little India, I learnt about the culture of the Hindus. The Hindus worship many gods. Each god has its own animal which portrays themselves. Some gods have more than 1 pair of hands, legs or eyes, it depends on how the Hindus imagined them. (The picture on the left shows the goddess Kali, its animal is the lion.)The goddess Kali is the goddess of time and transformation of death

Secondly, I learnt that Deepavali is widely celebrated in the Indian world. Each family decorates their houses beautifully and colourfully. The Hindus like bright colours as it seems that there is no more evil in this world.

Thirdly, I noticed that most of the shops sold flower garlands, jewelry and Indian snacks sold in small containers or packets.(Shown above)The Murukku sold in Little India tastes better than any other shops.

The henna tubes

These are tubes of henna that the Malays and Indians use for their festivals. The henna tubes on the right costs $2(Singapore dollars). While the other tubes cost $1 or $1:50 as they are different brands.

This is a picture of a tailor who is sewing a piece of clothing for an Indians customer. All Indian's buy their own piece of cloth and bring it to the tailor for him/her to sew it into what the customer wants.

This road sign is known as Buffalo Road because this road is once where buffalos move and stay. The buffalos stay in the shops near that area while the cowherd will stay in the second floor of the shop. Apparently they live in the same 'house'.

henna painting

This is an indian lady who is conducting the henna painting for students. 5o singapore cents per student.

These are indian goods that are hung up during the bazaar. Most of them are hand bags, decorations for Deepavali. The goods there are mostly imported from India.
